ROCHESTER, NY – IBC Engineering, an engineering consulting firm specializing in innovative design building systems, is proud to announce engineering design services for Hudson Opera House are now complete.

Hudson Opera House, a National Historic Landmark, is located in Hudson, NY. As New York State’s oldest surviving theater, it was built in 1855. For the past 40 years, majority of the building had been condemned and render unusable. Based on its historic nature, the Owner desired to restore the building’s interior to the intended state from its original construction. This included the performance hall, a 300-seat auditorium.

IBC Engineering, P.C.’s approach was to provide a design integrating the ideals of the Architect and the Owner to restore the building to its original construction from the late 1800’s. IBC Engineering provided the following engineering services:

  • Mechanical Engineering Design with new Air Conditioning System

  • Electrical Engineering Design

  • Plumbing Engineering Design

  • Fire Protection Design – Building Sprinkler System

The M/E/P/FP systems were designed to be sightless or appear as if they were from the specific era of the building’s original construction. The goal was to also implement quiet systems that wouldn’t interrupt performance halls in the main gallery.

To complete these efforts, the company worked closely with Preservation Architecture and Hudson Opera House name to ensure a smooth design process. This project was completed on in March 2017 and is now open to the public for the Spring Season.
