ROCHESTER, NY – IBC Engineering, an engineering consulting firm specializing in innovative design building systems, is proud to announce it has completed services for UR Strong West Third Floor Clinics in Brockport, NY.

UR Strong West wanted additional space to improve patient care and accommodate several new exam rooms, treatment rooms and office support areas for new staff members. IBC Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services to support this project. Major engineering services include the following:

Each Exam Room

  • Terminal unit for thermal control

  • New lighting with LED volumetric type recessed luminaires and LED down lights

  • Two level switching for improving patient comfort and illumination for exams

The Third Floor

  • HVAC systems were designed per department of health guidelines to provide appropriate air changes to limit spread of infections and diseases.

  • Hospital grade power receptacle required to meet longevity of floor medical occupancies

  • Upgraded to automatic fire protection with building-wide FCI addressable system

  • Individual nurse call systems added to patient toilet rooms to improve care

  • Plumbing system design incorporated existing sanitary mains above the second floor ceiling to serve renovation. This required careful planning to minimize disruption to the occupied space.

  • Existing medical gas system was modified and medical gas outlets were upgrade per FGI Guidelines.

  • New wet sprinkler piping system was added and connected to stand pipe system in the builder

To complete this $1.6 million renovation, IBC Engineering, P.C. worked closely with Gardner PLUS Architects (Labella Associates) and University of Rochester Medical Center name to ensure a smooth design process. This project was completed in January 2017 and is now open to the public.
