IBC Engineering is proud to announce their recent State University Construction Fund renovation project at SUNY Buffalo State, Caudell Hall, achieved LEED Silver Certification and has been awarded a Business First Brick-by-Brick Award for “Best Collegiate” category.

Caudell Hall, located on the SUNY Buffalo State campus, is home to the college’s hospitality, health and wellness, social work and speech-language pathology programs. It includes conference rooms, classrooms, a lobby, presentation and demonstration area, food storage, four culinary labs, computer labs, as well as a nutrition and dietetics laboratory.

IBC Engineering provided full mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design for the renovation and expansion project. Some highlights of the M/E/P/FP scope are listed below.

  • HVAC systems design from penthouse and basement levels through chases utilizing a VAV system.

  • Culinary and dietetics labs had food service hoods controlled through Demand Controlled Ventilation systems with makeup air units and exhaust fans.

  • Electrical systems design included connecting basement main distribution panel to each floor for loads, as well as each UDS for powering of food service equipment.

  • Data infrastructure distributed from two locations in the building to required outlets in compliance with TIA EIA standards.

  • Plumbing system provides utilities to all fixtures in the building and food service equipment utilizing the UDS system.

  • Fire protection system expanded throughout the building. The culinary arts areas with hoods were also equipped with suppression systems.

IBC Engineering worked closely with BHNT Architects, P.C. to successfully complete the $25 million renovation and additions.

Congratulations to the entire team on this huge success!
